- Turn off the lights whenever you leave the classroom. It's a super simple way to make sure energy is saved. - Ask your teacher if you can email him or her the copy of your research paper, rather than printing it our in it's twenty page entirety. - If you 'brown bag' your lunches from home, eliminate napkins, paper bags, plastic bags, etc. Buy a lunch box, use silverware, and tupperware. - Take the bus to school, or if you're close enough, bike or walk. But if you do ride to school, just be sure to lock your bike. - If you've worn through your backpack, and have to buy a new one, purchase one that's made of recycled rubber or hemp. - When the weather gets hot, take a reusable water bottle for water and other drinks. - Purchase recylced or hemp paper to help atone for the twenty something pounds of paper that the average student uses. Remember to recycle papers that aren't needed anymore. - Buy writing utensil that are made from recycled materials, though this may be hard with small children who can't hold on to the same pencil for more than a day. |
